College Football Predictions & Best Bets for Week 10

College Football Predictions & Best Bets for Week 10

Week 9 saw me spinning my wheels once again, going 1-1 on my best bets for the week’s college football action. Not a good path to a profit, but at least I’m staying afloat until I hit it big. Perhaps this will be the week. For my college football predictions and best bets for Week 10, we’re hitting up SECU Stadium in College Park, Maryland, and California Memorial Stadium in Berkeley, California. Let’s hit the gridiron!

College Football Predictions & Best Bets for Week 10

#2 Indiana Hoosiers vs Maryland Terrapins

Start Time: 3:30 PM EST

We kick things off with Big Ten action, with the conference’s top team, the #2-ranked Indiana Hoosiers, bringing their perfect 5-0 conference mark (8-0 overall) into College Park to face one of the Big Ten’s worst teams, the 1-3 (4-3 overall) Maryland Terrapins.

It’s onward and upward for the Hoosiers this season, starting the season in the 20s in the rankings and moving up to the tippy top (almost) by Week 8. They’ve crushed ranked teams (#9 Illinois, #3 Oregon) and overmatched squads all the like. With an elite offense and elite defense, they are a formidable squad.

So, naturally, I’m in on the Terrapins here. Hey, I’ve had good luck this season betting on dogs covering huge spreads, and that’s the spot Maryland finds itself in here. The Terrapins are a strong defensive team that has been good at keeping games close all year. I’m counting on them doing the same on Saturday.

Best Bet: Maryland +22 (-110)

#15 Virginia Cavaliers vs California Golden Bears

Start Time: 3:45 PM EST

Now we’ll check in on some ACC action, where the #15-ranked Virginia Cavaliers will look to stay undefeated in the conference (4-0) and keep pace with first-place Georgia Tech. The 2-2 (5-3 overall) California Golden Bears are standing in their way on their home field.

The Cavaliers have lost one game, a four-point defeat at NC State in Week 2. Other than that blip, they’ve been rolling, including beating #8 Florida State by eight points in Week 5. They’re doing it with one of the most potent offenses in the nation, putting up 37.1 points per game, 18th most in the country this season.

As for their opponents this week, this hasn’t been a stellar season for the Golden Bears, as a mediocre offense and defense have them barely outscoring their opponents on average for the season. And they’ve been consistently inconsistent, not winning back-to-back games since Week 3. And this is with a fairly weak schedule, as the Cavaliers will be the first-ranked squad Cal has faced this season.

This all adds up to a Virginia win for me. But, more importantly, a win that covers the spread as well. My line is Virginia -9, so I really like the spread we’re getting at the books.

Best Bet: Virginia -3.5 (-110)
