Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season continues under the Friday Night Lights as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Los Angeles Chargers from the Arena Corinthians in São Paulo, Brazil. Friday’s game will mark the fourth international regular season contest for the Chiefs. This will also be the fourth international game for the Chargers. Let’s dig into our Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers Preview and Predictions to see what we like from this game.
Kansas City is looking to get back to the Super Bowl for a fourth straight season with most of their weapons still intact. All-pro quarterback Patrick Mahomes is still at the head of the offense. Recently engaged tight end Travis Kelce returns as well to the squad. The Chiefs finished their 2024 campaign with a 15-2 record on their way to their third-straight conference championship and their fifth in six years.
The Chargers hope to finally break the stranglehold that Kansas City has had on the AFC West and find their way to the championship game this year. Los Angeles ended last season with an 11-6 record. They made it to the postseason only to be bounced in the wild card round by the Houston Texans. Defensive edge threat Khalil Mack is hungry for a shot at putting Mahomes on his back early and often this week and this season.
Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers Preview and Predictions
Xavier Worthy Under 67.5 Receiving Yards (-115 via BetMGM)
Worthy ended last year as Kansas City’s top wideout. Although, that is not saying too much given he only accounted for 638 receiving yards on 59 receptions. The young pass catcher had only two games in which he gained at least 68 yards. He went 1 for 2 last season cashing this prop against the Chargers.
The last time these teams met, Mahomes threw for only 210 yards against the Chargers’ defense. Kelce led all pass catchers that day with just 45 receiving yards on the day. Los Angeles allowed an average of 151.3 yards per game to the wide receiver position last season. Should that trend carry over to this year, it’s hard to see Worthy accounting for almost half of that total with Hollywood Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster still in the mix.
Ladd McConkey Over 5.5 Receptions (-110 via BETMGM)
McConkey turned in an impressive rookie campaign leading the Chargers with 1,149 receiving yards. He also led the team in targets (112) and receptions (82). Last season, the young wideout registered six games with at least six receptions on the day. He cashed this prop in five of his last seven outings.
