Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC Paris
UFC Middleweight Fight: Robert Bryczek vs Brad Tavares
Start Time: Saturday (9/6) 12:00pm EST (ESPN+)
While the middleweights are on top, we’re focused on some middleweights on the bottom. Early on the card, Brad Tavares throws down with Polish fighter Robert Bryczek.
Despite the miles on his tires, Brad Tavares is still turning in high quality performances. He’s won two of his last four fights and was competitive in the losses as well. The thing that sticks out to me is his ability to keep fights standing. In those last four fights, he’s face 28 takedowns and only allowed four. That’s an 85.7% takedown defense rate.
While Bryczek might not shoot takedowns, it’s that grinding style and durability that should play up in this one. Bryczek tries to knock people’s heads off and doesn’t have the best late round cardio. Look for Tavares to use some cage control and pace to eventually outwork Bryczek here and take a decision.
