MMA Same Game Parlay of the Week: UFC Shanghai
UFC Shanghai Light Heavyweight Fight: Johnny Walker vs Zhang Mingyang
Start Time: 3:00am EST (ESPN+)
Let’s get one thing straight – I fully expect Johnny Walker to be the runway to Zhang Mingyang’s future stardom. Walker is just too hittable and Zhang comes with more than a bit of power. However, just because he is going to hurt Walker – and likely early – doesn’t mean we can’t rack up some significant strikes as well.
In his last fight, Zhang knocked out Anthony Smith in the first round. Despite the fight only taking just over four minutes, he landed 63 punches. He’s had four first round finishes for the UFC with the average strike total of 33. Walker will be his best opponent in his short career, so let’s assume he’ll need at least 20 to put him away.
On the return, Zhang is not one to get hit often. In fact, he’s only been hit at least 15 times once in that four fight stretch. However, Johnny Walker is much more aggressive than a lot of his past opponents. He’s landed at least 15 strikes in four of his last five fights. The only miss was a no contest with Magomed Ankalaev that was stopped in the first round. He had 14 significant strikes at the time of stoppage.
As a result, I think we can count on both guys to hit these meager numbers and to cash this ticket.
