Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for August 11

Zebby Matthews – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts

Zebby Matthews seems poised to get over this 5.5 mark on his strikeouts against the Yankees Monday. For one, he’s been over this mark in three of his last four games. The only miss was an outing that was shortened by the Red Sox scoring five runs off of him early. Even then, he managed to nail down four strikeouts. The Yankees currently rank 24th in strikeouts in the league with 8.70 per game. Between that and their struggles at the plate recently, he should be able to go deep and get six.

Anndrew Vaughn – Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs

Vaughn has been a different animal since being traded to the Brewers. After being worth -1.8 WAR with the White Sox in 48 games, he has been worth 1.1 in half of those games for his new team. He’s averaging 1.25 hits per game with Milwaukee and 1.17 RBIs per game. Already that puts him well above the projections and we haven’t even hit the runs yet. With a lefty on the bump in Andrew Heaney, he is going to find a bit of offense in there.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto – Higher than 6.5 Strikeouts

Yamamoto has been on an excellent string of games recently. He’s putting up 7.5 strikeouts per game over his last four games, and has been over this projections in all but one of those games. He now has the pleasure of getting to pitch against the Angels, who just so happen to be the worst team in the league at striking out. They fan, on average, 9.74 times per game. However, that number has nothing on the 13.0 times per game they’re striking out in their last three games.
