Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for August 2

Chase Burns – Higher than 7.5 Strikeouts

It might seem like a crazy projection for a rookie with just six career starts. However, I don’t think it’s high enough. One one, Burns has touched double-digit strikeouts in each of his last three games. He’s also surpassed this projection in 67% of his starts. It should be even easier for him to post a gaudy number against the Braves. They fanned 10 times against Brady Singer on Friday, and that’s with him only throwing 6.0 innings. They wound up fanning 14 times in the game overall.

Austin Bashi – Lower than 2.5 Takedowns

Don’t get me wrong, I love Austin Bashi’s chances to score a big win on Saturday. However, I don’t think it’ll take him all that long to do so. He faces a late replacement in John Yannis, who has had issues with takedown and submission defense – even on the regional scene. Bashi is a finisher and should be able to get out of this one fast. I simply don’t think he’ll have the time to rack up three takedowns.

Mateusz Rebecki – Higher than 10 Minutes of Fight Time

Rebecki is about as durable as they come. His last fight with Myktybek Orolbai really showed the level of damage that he could take. As a result, I really don’t think there is much of a chance of Chris Duncan getting him out of there. Additionally, Rebecki has had issues finishing fighters with a good grappling base. Not only is that true of Duncan, but they are also familiar with each others’ games – having trained together at American Top Team. That should make it harder to finish this one.
