While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. Promotions all over the world as well as domestic ones are showing up in sportsbooks. The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. MMA Regional Pick of the Week: Super RIZIN 4
RIZIN Heavyweight Fight: Mikio Ueda vs Alexander Soldatkin
Card Start Time: Sunday (7/27), 12:00am EST (Internet PPV)
This weekend, RIZIN continues it’s heavyweight grand prix in Saitama, Japan. After an excting set of quarterfinals back in May, the semifinals are set for bright and early Sunday morning. One of those semifinalists was an underdog in his first fight and finds himself one yet again.
Mikio Ueda may not have the record of a top heavyweight prospect, but he showed the Japanese crowd why that doesn’t matter. At RIZIN: Otoko Matsuri, he faced off with Shoma Shibisai, who had twice as many wins as him and ever a larger lead when it came to wins. However, that didn’t stop him from ripping KO in just over a minute. Despite his stocky build, this isn’t the first time he’s used his kickboxing to upset a veteran of the spot. Previously he had stopped Hideki Sekine, Tsuyoshi Sudario, and Tae In Kim – all inside of two rounds.
Now he faces Dana White’s Contender Series veteran, Alexander Soldatkin. The books are counting him out yet again being that Soldatkin has nearly three times the fights and wins as Ueda. However, I think the power of the hometown prospect comes through again for us here.
