San Francisco Giants starter Robbie Ray faces his previous team (with whom he won a Cy Young Award), the Toronto Blue Jays, tomorrow in Toronto, amid another sparkling season. Ray had himself three subpar years before bouncing back this year in The Bay, earning himself a second appearance in the All-Star Game.
But there’s a former teammate of Ray’s that he won’t enjoy facing tomorrow. That would be George Springer, who, like Ray, is having a bounce-back season this year as well. Springer has feasted while Ray has been on the mound during his career, slashing .353/.421/.824 over 19 plate appearances all-time.
I think Springer has himself another nice day at the plate in a season full of nice days at the plate, and we’ll get plus money when he does.
