Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for July 17

Shane Lowry – Lower than 70.5 Round STrokes

Lowry had a bit of a rough time in the first two round of the Travelers Championship a few weeks ago. However, he did close out that tournament well with a 66 and a 69. Now, he’s rested and ready to defend his home turf in the Open Championship. The bonus of this is that the tournament is back to Dunluce Links at the Royal Portush, which just so happens to be where Lowry ran away with the title in 2019. He should be in good shape to come in and put up a low number to start.

Tommy Fleetwood – Lower than 70.5 Round Strokes

Another guy who is playing some nice golf as of late is Tommy Fleetwood. He’s been posting good numbers all summer and closed out the final round of the Genesis Scottish Open with a 2-under 68. The conditions should be a touch harder in Northern Ireland, but he’s historically played this course well in the past. Back in 2019, he finished second at -9 despite playing a +3 in the final round. Much like Lowry, I expect him to be able to build on that comfort.

Sung Jae Im – Higher than 71.5 Round Strokes

Someone who isn’t playing up to his normal ability levels is Sung Jae Im. He shot twin 70s in the Genesis Scotting Open last week and then missed the cut. However, it’s not really that he missed the cut, it’s how he missed the cut. Sitting at -3 heading into the back nine of his second round, he finished with three bogies and not a single birdie. That’s not the kind of run you want to ride heading into Thursday.
