In my first day filling in for my co-host, Jeff Fox, I got in on Dallas to cover the spread. We should have trusted the massive moneyline in that one as they blew out the Mercury in a big upset. Nevertheless, a win is a win and we’ve got another WNBA pick looking to build on that success. Here’s my WNBA prediction and best bet for Friday, July 4th.

Los Angeles Sparks vs Indiana Fever
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST
Around the league, people were surprised to see the Indiana Fever walk away with the Comissioner’s Cup. However, it’s not just that they won the cup that has people hyped on them, it how they won it. They did so by blowing out Minnesota and have now won four of five games by eight points or more.
After winning all of those games by eight or more, we have them at just -7.5 for a home game following. The reason for that? Maybe people are expected a hangover following the big win. Perhaps people think they can’t keep this up with Caitlin Clark still on the shelf. There’s even a chance that folks think their lone loss in their last five being to Los Angeles was really meaningful.
I think all of that is crazy. I love the way they’re playing right now and especially the way that Kelsey Mitchell has been shooting lately. She’s been over her season average in four of those five games, which includes a 32-point performance against Dallas. I expect her to carry the team again in this one and see the Fever covering.
