The usual writer for this column, Jeff Fox, is on vacation for the week. I’ll be taking over for the next few days to try to bring his numbers back into the black. Without much diversity in the sports world today, we’ll head to ball field for an MLB pick. For my SGPN Prop Bet for Wednesday (July 2nd): MLB Prop Play, we’re off to the nation’s capital. Come check out what we cooked up.
SGPN Prop Bet for Wednesday (July 2nd): MLB Prop Play
Detroit Tigers vs Washington NAtionals
Start Time: 6:45 PM EST
For our July 2nd prop pick, I’m taking a look at the strikeouts of MacKenzie Gore. The Nationals starter sits fourth in MLB in that category with 129 in just 99.0 innings. At the beginning of the year, he was mowing people over at a crazy rate. However, in the last few games, he’s begun to fall off a bit.
Over his last four games, Gore has not gone over 6.5 strikeouts even once. That’s not to say that he isn’t pitching well – his swing and miss stuff just isn’t as good. I think there’s some hope that it comes back against the Tigers, but they aren’t a team who stikes out a lot either. They average 8.66 strikeouts per game and have actually been lowering that number as of late.
With his strikeouts trending down and a plus-number next to the under, I like Gore to keep sliding in this one.
Best Bet Prop Play: MacKenzie Gore Under 6.5 Strikeouts (+115)
Daily Prop Overall Record: 11-17 (39%)
Profit (based on $100/bet): -($555.38)
