MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – June 25
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers
First Pitch – 2:10 pm EST
American Family Field – Wilwaukee, WI
Broadcast – MLB TV
The NRFI here starts with a young phenom. No, for once I’m not talking about Paul Skenes (although we will later). This time I’m talking about Jacob Misiorowski – who has dazzled in his short time in MLB. He opened his career with 5.0 scoreless innings against the cardinals. However, it wasn’t just that he didn’t allow a run. He didn’t allow a hit either. He followed that up with six perfect innings against the Twins, before eventually allowing a run. Now he’ll get a Pirates offense who is dead last in first inning scoring, which should be easy pickings for our NRFI.
The Brewers are a lot better of a hitting squad than the Pirates. However, they still rank in the bottom half of the league in terms of first inning scoring. The aforementioned Paul Skenes will be on the bump to knock them a little lower in that metric. He hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in a start since May 1st. Additionally, he’s allowed one or less runs in seven of his last eight starts. He should cruise in this one and lock up an easy NRFI.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 25: No (-165)
New York Yankees vs. Cincinnati Reds
First Pitch – 7:10 pm EST
The Great American Ballpark – Cincinnati, OH
Broadcast – Prime Video
This game has a pair of teams who hit quite a bit better than the first teams that we covered. What we’ll be relying on is the powerful pitching matchup that we get.
While we will be trusting in Brady Singer to keep the Yankees quiet early, the Yankees may just do that themselves. Their bats haven’t been what they were in the beginning of the season. They’ve posted just nine total runs over their last three games with one of those coming in extra frames. Brady Singer should have what we need to keep that going. He’s coming off back-to-back outings allowing just one run.
For the Yankees, it’ll be Max Fried dealing here. His 2.05 ERA is third in the majors amongst qualified pitchers. He’s run into a little more problems over his last few starts, but even that has just barely brought him over 2.00. He should be able to plow through the top of this order to cash our NRFI.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 25: No (-120)
