The rest of the American League East were licking their chops heading into this season, as the New York Yankees were primed for a fall down the standings. Bye bye, Juan Soto, bye bye (for now), Gerrit Cole. But, apparently, it doesn’t matter who’s wearing the pinstripes – the Yankees just win.
One player who is suiting up in the pinstripes and is having a solid season is starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt. And I expect Schmidt to have a nice day at work tomorrow with the lowly Los Angeles Angels in town to kick off a four-game series.
The Angels strike out almost 10 times per game (9.77), the highest rate in the majors this season. So, I’m liking the over 6.5 punchouts for Schmidt tomorrow, especially for the plus money that the books are offering. He’s topped this total in back-to-back starts and three of his last four.
