Baltimore Orioles vs Tampa Bay Rays
Start Time: 7:35 PM EST
Despite all their young, blue-chip talent, the Baltimore Orioles continue to fumble the bag, sitting in the basement of the AL East with a 30-40 record. And that’s better than they should be, as advanced stats have them ranked as the 27th best team in the majors (aka the fourth worst team).
One franchise that never fumbles the bag is the Tampa Bay Rays. Despite consistently being expected to take a step back, despite being forced to play in a minor league ballpark this season, the Rays are 39-32 and in second place in the division.
While the Rays aren’t excelling in their new digs (23-20), that record should improve starting tomorrow with the Orioles in town. After crunching the numbers, the Rays are over two runs a game better than the Orioles, and have the superior starter on the mound (Ryan Pepiot over Zach Eflin). Yet, we’re still getting a real solid line for Tampa Bay.
