This week brings us our monthly UFC pay-per-view, with Saturday’s UFC 316 going down in the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. We get two title fights at the top of the card, plus the debut of a former Bellator champion. For my MMA Main Card Pick of the Week: UFC 316, I’m going chalk in the main event. Let’s go!

MMA Main Card Pick of the Week: UFC 316
UFC 316: Dvalishvili vs O’Malley 2
Main Card Start Time: 10:00 PM EST – (PPV)
Saturday’s main event is a rematch for the UFC Bantamweight Championship between current champ Merab Dvalishvili and former champ Sean O’Malley. Dvalishvili wrestled (literally) the belt away from O’Malley at last year’s Noche UFC and has since gone on to defend it successfully against Umar Nurmagomedov, while O’Malley was on the shelf with a torn labrum.
I’m not a fan of quick turnaround rematches because they are pointless – the result in the second fight will almost always mirror the first. And that’s what I expect in this case also. Even a healthy O’Malley can’t handle Dvalishvili’s constant pressure, strong wrestling, and endless cardio because no one can handle his constant pressure, strong wrestling, and endless cardio
