After four straight “road” events and six of the last seven away from home, the UFC’s home arena, the UFC Apex, hosts a UFC Fight Night this Saturday night. And oh boy, is this card a textbook example of what is being called “UFC Apex slop”. But we’ll make money on it, regardless. For my MMA Main Card Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 106, I’ve zeroed in on the lightweight fight scheduled third from the top. Let’s go!

MMA Main Card Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 106
UFC Fight Night: Burns vs Morales (AKA UFC Vegas 106)
Main Card Start Time: 7:00 PM EST (PPV)
That aforementioned lightweight fight would be between veteran Sodiq Yusuff and prospect (and former The Ultimate Fighter winner) Mairon Santos. And my money is going on the man known as “The Legend” (despite being only 24), Santos.
There was a time not too long ago when Yusuff was the up-and-comer, but he’s dropped two straight (including getting TKO’d in his last fight), has been out of action for over a year, and hasn’t won a fight since October 2022. And he’ll be turning 32 in a week. Santos should be the better and more powerful striker in this matchup, and I have more faith in him at this point in the two men’s respective careers.
