Maybe this really is a “different” Toronto Maple Leafs team this season. They foiled another one of my best bets on Wednesday, and are one of the favorites to hoist the Stanley Cup in June. Carolina Hurricanes vs Washington Capitals
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST
Things started out promising for the Washington Capitals (and, subsequently, my best bet) in Tuesday’s Game 1, as the home team entered the third period with a 1-0 lead. But the Carolina Hurricanes tied it up and won in overtime, stealing the first game of the series on the road.
Yet I’m counting on Washington not fooling me twice, and I’m taking them on the moneyline (once again as a dog) for Game 2 tomorrow night. Their goalie, Logan Thompson, was brilliant on Tuesday night, and the Capitals are too potent of an offensive juggernaut to be held to one goal (and only 14 shots on net) in back-to-back games.
Plus, the Hurricanes are a really crummy team playing away from Carolina, and the Capitals are strong on home ice. We’ll play the percentages again tomorrow night.
