Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 103
UFC Flyweight Fight: Charles Johnson vs Ramazan Temirov
Start Time: Saturday 4:00pm EST (ESPN+)
Temirov comes from Uzbekistan, which is an area we typically associate with wrestling. However, he’s a fighter who loves to throw hands and would much prefer the fight stay on the feet. In fact, in his UFC debut, he didn’t shoot a single takedown prior to knocking out CJ Vergara.
That’s going to be a problem against Johnson. Johnson has been in there lately with plenty of fighters who are big for the weight class and fast with their striking. However, he’s been able to stay away from the big shots and wear them down with his pace and pressure. I think that avenue is in play here again for him on Saturday.
Expect Johnson to weather some of the early storm and then start to take over in this one.
