MMA Same Game Parlay of the Week: UFC 312
UFC 312 Lightweight Fight: Colby Thicknesse vs Aleksandre Topuria
Start Time: 6:00pm EST (ESPN+)
We’ll look to a pair of debuting bantamweights for our UFC 312 same-game parlay. Alexandre Topuria’s moneyline has shot up thanks to the popularity of his older brother, UFC champ Ilia Topuria. While I might not like that number by itself anymore, I do think we can spice it up with a statistical piece.
If you’ve seen the younger Topuria fight before, you can see that he has the wrestling that you’d expect due to his name. He gets in on singles well and drives through for the finish. On the other side of the cage, Thicknesse has shown some issues with his wrestling. While it’s his preferred fighting style, he sometimes shoots from too far away and doesn’t finish with as much vigor as Topuria.
I expect Topuria will get him down at least once. While I’m tempted to spice this up even more with a 2+ takedown like, there is an outside chance that Topuria will finish him the first time they’re down. As a result, we’ll pair that moneyline with a single takedown and get a big favorite at a reasonable number.
