NFL Week 9 kicks off on Thursday Night Football between the Houston Texans and the New York Jets. Two teams that are going in opposite directions. The Jets season has quickly derailed after losing in Week 8 against the New England Patriots. Meanwhile, the Houston Texans are 6-2 thus far and looking to get their offense into full gear as they continue to deal with injuries. Below are my Texans at Jets Preview and Predictions.
The Houston Texans received devastating news this week. All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs suffered a torn ACL in Week 8 and will miss the rest of the regular season. Texans continue to be without Nico Collins but all indications are that he will return in Week 10. Furthermore, the Texans are in the midst of three straight primetime games. Additionally, the Texans are dealing with injuries to the linebacking core.
Meanwhile, the New York Jets have severely underperformed thus far this season. They sit at the bottom of the AFC East even though the Jets acquired Davante Adams and fired their head coach a few weeks ago. Will the Jets offense be able to figure it out in this Thursday Night Football game against a feisty defensive line of the Texans?

Best Bets
As I mentioned above, the Texans come into this game very limited on the offense side. The Texans will be without Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins. That puts immense pressure on the Texans’ secondary receivers and the running game. The key for the Texans will be if the Stroud can keep the offense ahead of the chains. Additionally, this is an opportunity for Stroud to showcase why he is one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
Home favorites on Thursday Night Football in Week 8 and beyond are 81-53-2 ATS (60.4%). In addition, the Under is 76-60 (55.9%). This game could turn into a defensive battle, and whichever team limits its turnovers should win. The Texans are a great teaser leg this week to move through 7 to 7.5.

Joe Mixon Over 83.5 Rushing Yards
This will be a game where the Texans’ offense will rely heavily on Joe Mixon. Over the last two weeks, Mixon has exactly 25 rush attempts in each game and eclipsed 100+ rushing yards. The books have Mixon’s rush attempts set at 20.5 and if he does go over his rush attempts he has a great chance of getting over his rushing yards. I fully expect a big game from Mixon for the compromised receiving group of the Texans.
