Cleveland Browns at Washington Commanders Preview and Predictions

Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns head to Northwest Stadium, Landover to take on Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders. The Commanders have been one of the surprise teams of 2024 through the first four weeks. There must be something about getting that number two overall pick in the draft. Can they keep that offensive train rolling in Week 5? This game kicks off at 1:00 p.m. ET on Fox. Let’s take a look at the Browns-Commanders preview and predictions.

The Browns have been a bit of a surprise this season themselves, but not in a good way. After head coach Kevin Stefanski won his second Coach of the Year award in three seasons with Joe Flacco finishing the season out strong, the Browns had high expectations coming into 2024. After four weeks they sit just 1-3 looking like maybe bringing Joe Flacco back would have been the better option at quarterback.

The Commanders on the other hand look like this year’s version of the Houston Texans. Get a new quarterback with the second overall pick in the NFL Draft and immediately turn things around. They’ve opened the season 3-1. After a Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers, they scored wins against the Giants, Bengals, and Cardinals. They’ve scored on 16 consecutive offensive drives.

Washington Commanders -3 (-111)

These are two teams on different trajectories early in the 2024 season. The Commanders are riding three straight wins, which is the hottest offensive start the NFL has seen in some time. The Browns are reeling after losing to the Raiders and Giants the last two weeks, they are not exactly elite NFL teams.

Washington thumped the Cardinals last week and took care of business the week before against the Bengals who were coming off of taking the Chiefs to the wire. This Commanders team has no pressure, no expectations and they are truly enjoying the game of football. This is a simple case of riding the hot hand.

Terry McLaurin Over 51.5 Yards Receiving (-117)

It took a couple of games for Daniels and McLaurin to get on the same page, but now that they have, it’s been clicking. In Week 1 McLarin only had two catches, but Daniels hyper-targeted him in Week 2, but it only amounted to 22 yards. Week 3 is where they figured it out, McLaurin caught four of his six targets for a massive 100-yard game.

Week four brought 10 targets that resulted in seven catches for 52 yards. Expect these two’s relationship to continue to grow and flourish. McLaurin should cruise past 52 yards on Sunday.
