New York Jets vs Minnesota Vikings Preview and Predictions

New York Jets vs Minnesota Vikings Preview and Predictions

Set those alarms football fans! The overseas portion of the NFL season returns here in Week 5 with Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets taking on a foe Rodgers is very familiar with in the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings are now led by the Jets’ former third overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Sam Darnold. This game will kick off at 9:30 a.m. ET and be aired on the NFL Network. Let’s take a look at this Jets-Vikings preview and predictions.

The Jets enter the game as 1.5-point underdogs with a record of 2-2. They’ve struggled to find an identity with an aging quarterback returning from a devastating injury. They’ve struggled, and now there are rumors about a Devontae Adams and Aaron Rodgers reunion.

The Vikings enter this game one of only two teams still undefeated at 4-0. It’s them and the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Darnold appears to have fixed his ghost problems and looks like the quarterback the Jets drafted him to be all the way back in 2018. Justin Jefferson looks like the stud wide receiver who hasn’t missed a beat, and after missing time due to injury Jordan Addison made a big impact returning last week.

New York Jets vs Minnesota Vikings Preview and Predictions

Minnesota Vikings -1.5 (-120)

How can you go against Sam Darnold and the Minnesota Vikings at this point? They’ve taken care of every obstacle put in their way to this point. A bad Giants team, easily beat them 28-6. Defending NFC champion 49ers, even as an underdog they took care of business. The hyped-up Texans, 34-7 final score.

Then against their divisional rival Green Bay Packers last week, the Vikings put them away pretty easily. The Packers made a valiant comeback, but the final score (31-29) wasn’t indicative of how the game went. Now they go up against a Jets team that has struggled against Will Levis and Bo Nix? Give me the Vikings.

Jordan Addison 40+ Receiving Yards (-105)

Addison left the Vikings’ first game with a knee injury that forced him to miss the next two games. When he returned in Week 4 he became a big part of the offense right away with his big play ability. He needed just three catches to go for 72 yards. With Sauce Gardner covering Justin Jefferson, Darnold will look at Addison’s way more.

Addison went over the 40-yard mark on 11 occasions in 2023. The only thing that’s changed in this offense has been Sam Darnold replacing Kirk Cousins, and so far that’s been an even trade. Addison’s longest catch last week was 29 yards, a mark he crossed six times in 2023. One big play from Addison, and you’ll be already close to cashing this bet.
