Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – September 4

Giancarlo Stanton – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

You can actually take most of the Yankees lineup against Nathan Eovaldi. It seems like just about all of them have a solid history against the former Red Sox starter. In the end I settled on Stanton due to the fact that his multiplier was a touch lower and I like his head-to-head stats for the price. He’s 12-for-38 (.316) career against Eovaldi and 50% of those hits are for extra bases – including four dingers.

Teoscar Hernandez – Higher than 1.5 Total bases

A couple days ago we were in on Hernandez’s bases and he responded with a 5-for-5 day. He’s been hot lately and he has another favorable matchup on Wednesday. He faces the Angels’ Griffin Canning, who he has seen six times in his career. In those six appearances, he has four hits with half of them going for extra bases. That leaves him with a head-to-head 1.333 slugging percentage. That’s good enough for me to think he’s coming home with a couple of bases.

Marcus Semien – Higher than 0.5 Total bases

We’ll look to sweep the entry with total bases and Semien is the last piece of it. He has another good head-to-head matchup – his is with Marcus Stroman. He’s 7-for-17 (.412) against him. The fact that he’s been a touch cold lately means we can get the reduced number on this one. He should be able to find his way on base one time.
