Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – September 2
Teoscar Hernandez – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Teoscar Hernandez has been swinging a nice bat lately. He’s been higher than this number in two of his last three games and three of his last five. Not only that, he’s getting a great pitching matchup here. He faces lefty Eduardo Rodriguez, who he has faced 22 times before. In those matchups, he’s 8-for-21 (.381) with five of the eight hits going for extra bases. That yields a .905 slugging percentage and gives me plenty of confidence.
Osvaldo Bido – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts
The Mariners are the only team in the league with strikeout numbers over 10.0 per game. They also rank last in batting average and near the bottom in most other offensive categories. On the other hand, Osvaldo Bido has looked nothing short of stellar lately. He has beaten this projection in five of his last seven games and was only a half of a strikeout short in the other two. He should find an extra one or two on Monday.
Seth Brown – Lower than 1.5 Total bases
You might see Seth Brown’s last five games and ask why I’m down on him here. Afterall, he’s beaten this projection in four of his last five games. However, he’s getting a miserable pitching matchup here. Despite having the handed advantage against Logan Gilbert, he has just one hit in 19 plate appearances (.056 batting average). He was due for a bit of regression and this should be just the pitcher to bring it to him.
