Martin Truex Jr Over 12.5 Finishing Position
These finishing positions bets on Caesars Sportsbook are a fun market to visit. They are offering Truex Jr. at 12.5. The general rule of thumb on Superspeedway tracks is to take the “over,” which is finishing worse than 12.5 in this case.
Too many things can go wrong on superspeedways, and while most weeks, maybe only twenty cars can fill those top 12 positions, at Daytona, all 40 cars are capable of scoring that top 12 finish.
Looking back at Martin Truex Jr’s finishes at Daytona, he’s been walking the line of this number but struggled to finish “under” it. In the Daytona 500, he finished 15th.
Last fall, Truex finished 24th in this race, and in last year’s 500, he was again 15th. In his last three Daytona starts, Truex hasn’t finished better than 12.5, and only twice in the last ten races here has he bettered that, with an eighth-place finish in August 2022 and a fourth in August 2020.
John Hunter Nemechek Top 10 Finish (+550)
John Hunter Nemechek hasn’t had the best season in returning to full-time Cup Series racing with the Legacy Motor Club. Superspeedway racing gives Nemechek a chance to shine, however.
Nemechek started the season with a strong seventh-place finish in the season-opening Daytona 500. He followed it up at Atlanta with a 21st-place finish. While it’s not a top-10 finish, he made it to the end of the race, which is the most important part of Superspeedway racing.
Going back to his last full-time season in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2020 with Front Row Motorsports, Nemechek had strong finishes of 11th place in both the Daytona 500 and the fall Daytona race.
Last year, he wheeled his Joe Gibbs Racing Xfinity Series ride to a second-place finish at Daytona. Survive and get to the end of the race, and Nemechek will have a chance at a top-10 finish, maybe more!
Corey Lajoie Top 10 Finish (+300) & Top Finishing Chevy (+2000)
Nobody has made me more money in the Cup Series betting at superspeedways than Corey Lajoie. It’s been a rough season for Lajoie so far. Lajoie is looking for a ride for the 2025 season and beyond, as Spire Motorsports has already announced he won’t remain with the team.
This is one of his last two chances to shine, Daytona and Atlanta. In the Daytona 500, Lajoie opened the season with a strong fourth-place finish, cashing a few of our “car lift” bets from the NASCAR Gambling Podcast. Last fall in this race, Lajoie managed a 10th-place finish.
In eight of the last ten races at Daytona, Lajoie has finished inside the top 16. The same sentiment applies here: if you can be in the top 16, you can be in the top 10 at the end of the day.
Kyle Busch to Win (+1600)
19 seasons in the NASCAR Cup Series for Kyle Busch. In all 19 seasons, the two-time Cup Series champion has won at least one race. Now, in his twentieth season, he has only 12 races left before the season ends. Busch was inches away from winning at Atlanta earlier this spring and was the leader at the end of 500 miles in last year’s Daytona 500 before overtime happened.
Richard Childress Racing has a third car entered in this race: Austin Hill. My guess is that he has been told his job is to be glued to Busch’s bumper and will him to the win if he can. It would be the perfect storybook ending to a tough regular season for a legendary driver on a legendary team.
