Stanley Cup Final Game 3 Odds

Florida Panthers (+115) | Edmonton Oilers (-135)
Panthers +1.5 (-225) | Oilers -1.5 (+200)
Over 5.5 (-105) | Under 5.5 (-115)

For the first time this series, the Oilers are favorites, with -135 odds implying a 57.45% chance of victory. The total is once again set at 5.5, with the Under 5.5 slightly favored after two low-scoring games to open the Stanley Cup Final.

Stanley Cup Final Game 3 Picks & Predictions

The Florida Panthers got off to a strong start in Game 2, but it was the Edmonton Oilers who scored on their first shot of the game to take a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately for them, that was all they could muster against Sergei Bobrovsky as the Panthers took a 2-0 lead to Edmonton.

The Cats got an injury scare late in Game 3 when Leon Draisaitl connected with Aleksander Barkov’s head on a high hit. Barkov left the game and did not return, but the Panthers captain returned to practice on Wednesday.

The Oilers’ downfall in past years has been a combination of three things: goaltending, defense, and depth. Stuart Skinner has been solid enough to quiet any qualms in the crease, and the Oilers have actually played a decent two-way game on the defensive side of things. But then there’s the issue of a complete lack of depth.

Evan Bouchard played over 30 minutes in Game 2, including a four-minute shift late in the third period. Kris Knoblauch pulled Skinner for the extra attacker and didn’t go away from the same players on the ice. The Oilers are still a very top-heavy team, and that’s been evident late in games this postseason.

Meanwhile, the Panthers’ depth has been feasting against the Oilers. Six different players have scored a goal through two games, with depth winger Evan Rodrigues leading the way. He scored twice in the third period of Game 2 to give the Panthers some breathing room.

Things should change with Edmonton now having home ice and the chance to get a better matchup for its top line, but that may not be enough against the Panthers team. You have to think that the Oilers will get a win at some point, but I can’t pass up plus odds on the Cats in Game 3.

The Panthers have limited the Oilers to five goals in four games this season so I’m going to have to see Edmonton generate some offense before backing them or the over.

Stanley Cup Final Game 3 Moneyline Pick: Panthers (+115)
