The Quick Pick: Daily NHL Underdog Fantasy Pick ’em Picks for May 22

Artemi Panarin Higher Than 0.5 Points

The Presidents Trophy-winning New York Rangers have the home ice advantage in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Panthers took the regular season series two games to one, but all games were close and fierce affairs. With any NHL Underdog entry, it’s always best to first put on those value-hunting glasses. Our first pick on Wednesday night is the guy they call Breadman, Artemi Panarin.

Artemi tallied 120 regular season points and had a total of four points in their three meetings against Florida. His point-tallying success has carried over into the Playoffs, having notched 11 points in 10 games. The odds are more juiced than a Florida Orange, but hey, maybe that’s a metaphor.

All the Breadman does is deliver, and in Game 1, it’s hard to envision a delay in that delivery. So go ahead and press the Higher Than 0.5 Points for Artemi Panarin in the opening game of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Carter Verhaeghe Higher Than 0.5 Assists (1.25x Odds)

All year, the Panthers and Rangers battled for that President’s Trophy detail, with the latter winning out in the end. But as the expression in this industry goes, “Vegas always knows.” And Florida has had lower odds of winning the Cup throughout the entire season.

It’s no different now, with the Panthers looking slight favorites in both tonight’s game and the series. But for our two-pack snack purposes, let’s give a little look-see to the Panther they call “Swaggy Verhaeghe.”

On a team with Barkov and Tkachuk, sometimes Underdog players are quick to forget the value that Verhaeghe brings. Good thing for the degens, our value hunter glasses spotted Verhaeghe to have an assist at 1.25x Odds. Carter tallied 38 regular season assists in 76 games played. And here in the postseason, Verhaeghe has logged five assists across 11 games.

His numbers against the NYR are also enticing, having logged an assist in each of their three regular season meetings. We’re grabbing the hammer and mashing this trend to take Carter Verhaeghe Higher Than 0.5 Assists in Game 1.
