Underdog Fantasy College Basketball Picks April 6
Matthew Dewoskin Underdog Fantasy College Basketball Pick Em Record (Est 3/1/2024)
All Pick Em Selections: 53-31-3 (63.1%) Spicy Multiplier Picks: 3-0 (100%) Perfect 3-0 Pick Em Entries: 5-23 (+1.0 units)
Michael O’Connell (North Carolina State) Higher Than 4.0 Assists
NC State guard Michael O’Connell is a key distribution point for the NC State offense, and he gets a tasty matchup against the Purdue defense.
O’Connell is averaging 3.2 assists on the year, but he’s kicked it up to 5.5 assists per game in the NCAA tournament. His usage rate has also increased, as he’s playing almost 39 minutes per game.
The Purdue Boilermakers averaged 14.2 assists allowed per game this year. That’s 278th in the nation. They have improved to 13.0 assists allowed per game over their last three games, but there are still assists to be had against the Boilermakers.
Look for O’Connell to accumulate more than 4.0 assists, and make sure he’s in your Underdog Fantasy college basketball pick’em entry for April 6.
Zach Edey (Purdue) Higher Than 26.5 Points
It’s clear that this is Zach Edey’s tournament to eat in. Edey comes into the Final Four averaging 25.0 points per game, but he’s taken it to another level in the tournament. He’s averaging 30.0 points per game over the four games the Boilermakers have won.
Edey is playing almost 40 minutes per game, and he rarely racks up too many fouls. He’s also getting every call known to man. By the time the game tips off, D.J. Burns may already be in foul trouble. He’s going to get his down low, and he should get at least 10 free throw attempts on his way to clearing 26.5 points in the Final Four.
Alex Karaban (Connecticut) Lower Than 19.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists
We’re riding this trend until it fails. Connecticut forward Alex Karaban enters the Final Four averaging 13.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game this year. However, in the four tournament games, Karaban is only averaging 9.8 points, 4.8 boards, and 1.0 assists.
Alabama isn’t the ideal spot to fade anyone’s PRA, but Karaban has failed to go higher than 19.5 PRA in six of his last seven games. Look for him to continue the trend in the Final Four, and get him into your Underdog Fantasy college basketball pick’em entry for April 6.
Mark Sears (Alabama) Lower Than 4.0 Assists
Alabama guard Mark Sears enters the Final Four, averaging 4.1 assists per game this year. However, in the NCAA tournament, Sears is only averaging 3.8 assists per game. He’s missed going higher in each of his last two games.
The real angle here is the UConn defense. UConn is sixth in the nation in assists allowed per game. They’ve only allowed 10.1 assists per game this year, and in their last three games, the Huskies have only allowed 8.0 assists per game.
Sears is looking to shoot first, hasn’t been distributing, and this is a killer match up. Make sure you’ve got Sears going lower on his assists total in your Underdog college basketball pick’em entry for April 6.
