NBA First FG Props – April 1
Atlanta Hawks vs. Chicago Bulls
Tipoff – 8:00 pm EST
United Center – Chicago, Illinois
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Hawks come into this one ranked in the top 10 of the league in terms of finishing first buckets (currently 9th). Their lead over the Bulls is a sizable one – just a touch above 10.0%. The Bulls come in at 26th in the league in that category.
The data doesn’t get any better for the Bulls on the jump ball looks. They are actually a touch lower than their first field goal rank in that category. They rank 28th in the league and are winning just 34.7% of the first possessions. The Hawks are also a tad worse in that category, but still enjoy a 8.4% advantage over their foes Monday.
The Hawks seem to spread the ball out pretty well early on. They’re one of the few teams that seem to avoid going inside to start the game, so we can probably consider a guard here. Dejounte Murray has taken one of the first three shots in each of the last three games. He is also making shots at a healthy 46.3% clip, which gives us hope one will fall.
First FG Bet for April 1: Dejounte Murray (TBD)
Phoenix Suns vs. New Orleans Pelicans
Tipoff – 8:00 pm EST
Smoothie King Center – New Orleans, Louisiana
Broadcast – NBA TV
The lead for the Suns in this one on the first field goal success rate is not large. They hold a slight 5.5% lead in that category. However, their likelihood of having the first possession is so much higher than that of the Pelicans. They’re first in the league at winning the tip, compared to a respectable 15th for the Pelicans. They hold a 24.3% advantage, largely thanks to the tip work of Jusuf Nurkc.
Kevin Durant has 11 first field goals on the year. That puts him in elite company for this season. However, what’s more impressive is that he only had five going into March. He rattled off six last month and seems to want the rock early every game. We’ll keep that trend kicking here.
First FG Bet for April 1: Kevin Durant (TBD)
