Daily NBA Player Props – October 23rd
Lauri Markkanen – Over 23.5 Points (-109)
Lauri Markkanen put up a bit of a dud in the season opener, scoring just 18 points. However, you have to love the volume that you saw from him on the floor. He took 13 shots including seven from beyond the arc, which means that the Jazz were committed to him being a big part of the offense. They’ll face a much worse defense in New Orleans on Friday, who gave up 123 points in their opener. This should be a shootout and Markkanen should be one of the many beneficiaries.
Matas Buzelis – Over 17.5 Points (+111)
Another player who encouraged me with his first game volume is Matas Buzelis. While the stat sheet didn’t really show much, that’s because he drew a ton of contact and got to the line for 16 foul shots. He wasn’t hitting from deep, but gets an easier matchup in a depleted Bucks team that allowed 128 points to the Wizards on Wednesday.
Ty Jerome – Over 21.5 Points (-108)
We’ll round out a trio of points props with a spot where the books are looking for regression. Jerome couldn’t miss to kick off this year. The Grizzlies rode that hot hand to 45 points and a win over the Jazz. He shot 10 times from beyond the arc and made half of them. He also took 25 shots from the floor. Somehow the line is only set at 22. Although I do think we see a decrease from that absurd volume, he should still have plenty to get it here.
