UFC Vegas 88: Tuivasa vs Tybura – Predictions & Best Bets

Charalampos Grigoriou ML (-165) vs. Chad Anheliger

Grigoriou has spent the bulk of his career knocking out people who are taller than him and have more reach. As a result, he’s developed an ability to close the distance and land big bombs without taking too much in the way of return fire. He’ll walk into this fight with Anheliger with an inch of height and 3.5 inches of reach. Add that to his KO power and I think there’s a lot of value on this number.

Isaac Dulgarian – Wins via (T)KO (+325)

Dulgarian has been out here finishing everyone – literally. Six pro fights and four in the amateur ranks and he’s never failed to get his opponent out in the first round.

Christian Rodriguez got taken down rather easy early on against Raul Rosas Jr. He rallied with Rosas tired after not being able to put him away. I think, if he winds up on his back here against Dulgarian, he’ll eat too many punches to hang around.

Josi Nunes ML (-145) vs Chelsea Chandler

Chandler actually has a far better game than a lot of people give her credit for. Some of that is because she got turned into a meme in her last fight after being stunned and headbutting the side of the cage. However, the biggest flaw in her game plays right into the hands of Nunes.

Chandler is often in exchanges for too long and tends to get hit. Nunes hits so much harder than Chandler, so even if the volume piles up for Chandler, the scorecards will favor Nunes.

Gerald Meerschaert – Wins via Submission (+110)

Since moving to middleweight, and even before the move for that matter, Bryan Barberena has had some issues with being taken down too much. It cost him the fight with Jason Witt. Meerschaert is the last guy you want to find yourself on the wrong end of a submission battle with. Barberena has lost two of his last three that way, and I think Meerschaert finds it again.

Tai Tuivasa ML (-110) vs Marcin Tybura

At first I was draw to the KO prop for Tuivasa, but that number is only marginally better than the moneyline. He’s not likely to take this on the scorecards, but the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.

The reason I think he takes this is that Tuivasa generally only struggles against guys with big finishing power. Tybura hasn’t proven to be that all that much. Additionally, he hasn’t shown really great ability to get the fight to the ground. The fight on the feet clearly favors ‘Bam Bam’.

Jaqueline Amorim – Wins via Submission (+380)

It wouldn’t be a fight night if we didn’t find a big stab that we like. Amorim is a high level black belt out of Checkmat. Her submission skills are legit with 71% of her wins coming that way. Cory McKenna has been known to lean on her takedowns when she needs to win rounds. She’ll likely need to do that being that she has a massive reach disadvantage here – and Amorim is not one to tangle with on the mat.
