NFL Conference Championship Round: Underdog Fantasy Pick ‘Em – Defense
Justin Reid Higher Than 4.0 Solo Tackles
The Kansas City Chiefs’ high-flying safety went off last week in the Divisional Round against the Buffalo Bills. Reid recorded 11 total tackles, eight of which were solo tackles. The Chiefs are in for another hard-fought game this week as they return to the East Coast to take on the Baltimore Ravens.
Reid has had a strong season in the Chiefs backfield, racking up those solo tackles. In seven of his last nine games, Reid has reached four solo tackles. In four of his last five postseason games, Justin Reid has at least five solo tackles.
In last year’s AFC Championship game against the Bengals, Reid grabbed seven solo tackles, helping lead the Chiefs to the Super Bowl.
Patrick Queen Higher Than 7.0 Tackles + Assists
The Ravens’ Pro Bowl linebacker will be a key player in this AFC Championship game if the Ravens want a shot at getting to the Super Bowl. Last week, in a blowout win against the Houston Texans, Queen recorded five tackles, all of which were solo tackles.
This Kansas City Chiefs offense should pose a tougher test than the Texans did specifically when it comes to running the ball. The Chiefs have averaged 104.9 yards per game on the ground in 2023.
Isiah Pacheco and Patrick Mahomes will need to be contained, along with stars like Travis Kelce underneath. Queen has hit the seven-tackle mark in 11 games this season.
Patrick Queen’s stats this season, including playoffs:
• 138 tackles
• 9 tackles for loss
• 6 QB hits
• 6 PD, 1 INT
• 3.5 sacks
• 1 FF, 1 FR pic.twitter.com/EGq2lfldj7— NFL Stats (@NFL_Stats) January 24, 2024
Cameron Sutton Lower Than 3.5 Tackles + Assists
It’s been a struggle as of late for the veteran Lions defensive back. Over the last four games, Sutton has given up 26 completions on 32 targets, 467 yards, and three touchdowns when he was in primary coverage.
Head coach Dan Campbell gave Sutton a vote of confidence to Sutton this week but also mentioned mixing up coverages which may take Sutton out of the game a little more than normal.
Sutton had both a nine and 10 tackle game at the end of the season during these struggles, but other than that has only gone higher than 3.5 tackles in five other games, all of which came before Week 10.
Dre Greenlaw Higher Than 8.0 Tackles + Assists
The former Arkansas Razorback snagged his second interception of the game in the waning moments of Saturday’s divisional-round game that sealed the 49ers trip to the NFC Championship Game.
Greenlaw has been putting in the work for this San Francisco 49ers defense. Over their last 11 games, Greenlaw has reached eight combined tackles in nine games.
In three of his last four playoff games, Greenlaw has accounted for at least eight tackles. In last year’s NFC championship loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Greenlaw accounted for nine tackles.
