Fantasy Hockey Schedule Week 14: Waiver Wire Pickups & Adds (Jan. 8 – 14)

Fantasy Hockey Schedule Week 14: Waiver Wire Pickups & Adds (Jan. 8 - 14)

Welcome back to the weekly Fantasy Hockey waiver wire article. We’ll be taking a look at the teams with the most favorable fantasy hockey schedules and the fantasy hockey waiver wire. Below are a few players that should be available on waivers for each squad.

After a few wonky weeks through the holidays, the NHL is back to its regularly scheduled programming this week. There are double-digit games on Tuesday (10), Thursday (13), and Saturday (16), leaving Monday (4), Wednesday (3), Friday (2), and Sunday (2) as the light nights this week.

Optimizing your lineup is crucial in any fantasy sports league, and fantasy hockey is no different. Given the NHL’s unbalanced scheduling, there are certain teams that have better schedules on certain weeks throughout the year.

Fantasy Hockey Schedule Week 14: Waiver Wire Pickups & Adds

The Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, and Philadelphia Flyers play on three light nights this week and four times in total. We’re going to be targeting players from these three teams for this week.

Dallas Stars

  • Monday @ MIN
  • Wednesday vs. MIN
  • Friday vs. NSH
  • Saturday @ CHI

Tyler Seguin (C, RW – 41% Rostered)

Veteran forward Tyler Seguin is working away on the second line for the Dallas Stars. While he’s not what he once was, the 31-year-old forward has 29 points (14 goals) in 38 games this season.

While he’s on the second line at 5-on-5, Seguin is on Dallas’ top power-play unit which gives him plenty of opportunities to pick up points.

Seguin has points in two straight games and six points (four goals) in his last four contests. Dating back to November 28th, Seguin has 15 points in his last 19 games.

Thomas Harley (D – 31% Rostered)

Young defenseman Thomas Harley is emerging as a legitimate fantasy hockey option for the Dallas Stars. He’s up to 19 points in 35 games this season, with 14 points in his last 18 games.

Harley is currently playing on the second power-play unit but could get bumped up to the top unit with Miro Heiskanen on the shelf.

You can rarely find defensemen like Harley on the waiver wire. Pick him up if he’s available in your league.

Msdon Marchment (LW – 27% Rostered)

Mason Marchment is the other winger on the second line with Seguin and Matt Duchene. He’s coming into his own this year with 30 points (13 goals) in 38 games, nearly matching his 31 points from last season in 68 games.

Marchment is red-hot with nine points during his four-game point streak, and while he may not keep up that high of a pace, he’s good enough to be rostered in more than a quarter of leagues.

Minnesota Wild

  • Monday vs. DAL
  • Wednesday @ DAL
  • Friday vs. PHI
  • Saturday vs. ARI

Brock Faber (D – 24% Rostered)

Rookie defenseman Brock Faber is rocketing up the Calder Trophy charts, especially with Connor Bedard on injured reserve. While he’s an analytics darling, he’s also been putting up some points and should be rostered in more leagues.

Faber is coming off a three-assist game in Columbus on Saturday, which ended a six-game point drought. Prior to that, though, he had four points in his previous three games.

Marco Rossi (C – 10% Rostered)

Fellow rookie Marco Rossi is doing this thing as well. He’s currently centering the top line due to some injuries, but he doesn’t look out of place.

Rossi has 24 points in 36 games this season, including seven points in his last nine games. He’s been fairly consistent for the Wild, with a three-game point drought being his longest of the season.

Minnesota doesn’t score much, especially with Kirill Kaprizov out, but Rossi is worth a look in deeper leagues.

Philadelphia Flyers

  • Monday vs. PIT
  • Wednesday vs. MTL
  • Friday @ MIN
  • Saturday @ WPG

Sean Couturier (C – 27% Rostered)

Sean Couturier missed the better part of two seasons with a back injury but is putting up solid numbers this year. He’s riding a three-game point streak to bring his total up to 27 points (10 goals) in 37 games as the Flyers’ first-line center.

Couturier surely isn’t going to light the world on fire, but being rostered in only 27% of leagues seems really low.

Joel Farabee (LW – 21% Rostered)

Joel Farabee, only being rostered in 21% of leagues, is criminal. He was recently moved up to the top line with Couturier and All-Star Travis Konecny, and he’s putting up the points.

Farabee is up to 29 points (12 goals) in 39 games this season. He’s scoring at a point-per-game pace since December 7th, with 14 points in as many games. Since December 22nd, Farabee has nine points in seven games.

Farabee needs to be rostered in more leagues.
