Best Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Pickups: Oct 31st
De’Andre Hunter – Atlanta – SF/PF – 44% Rostered
(16.8 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 1.3 APG, 1.3 SPG, 0.3 BPG, 2.3 3PTs)
After putting up a dud in his season opener (nine points on nine shots), De’Andre Hunter has been back on track over the past three games. His shooting percentages are way above his career rates, so there is probably some regression coming, but otherwise, his numbers are right where they normally are. He’ll help you in every category outside of blocks.
Luguentz Dort – Oklahoma City – SG/SF – 41% Rostered
(12.5 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 1.0 APG, 1.5 SPG, 1.0 BPG, 1.8 3PTs)
Can defensive specialist Lu Dort actually shoot now?! Probably not, but you may want to ride him while he’s hot. He’s shooting 51.4% from the field and 38.9% from deep, way above his normal 39.5% FG and 33.3% 3P% rates. So, like Hunter, regression is coming. But that doesn’t mean you have to stick it out all season with him on your roster – grab him now until he remembers he can’t shoot.
Alec Burks – Detroit – PG/SG/SF – 27% Rostered
(15.0 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 2.3 APG, 0.3 SPG, 0.8 BPG, 3.5 3PTs)
I just grabbed Alec Burks, so I’m hoping his strong play continues for a bit longer. Hitting 3.5 three-pointers at a 53.8% clip probably isn’t sustainable, right?! But, like I mentioned for Hunter and Dort, there’s nothing wrong with trying to ride him and his hot streak while it lasts. Other than the hot shooting from deep, Burks’s other stats are right in line with his career averages.
Bogdan Bogdanovic – Atlanta – SG/SF/PF – 43% Rostered
(12.0 PPG, 1.8 RPG, 4.3 APG, 1.8 SPG, 0.0 BPG, 2.8 3PTs)
We head back to Atlanta to raid another player off of the Hawks’ roster. Bogdan Bogdanovic has always been a reliable source of three-pointers – he averages 2.4 made per game over his career at 38.7% accuracy. It’s the big bump-up in assists and steals that are making him even more valuable this season to fantasy basketball teams. Let’s see if he can keep it up.
Moses Moody – Golden State – SG/SF – 12% Rostered
(9.8 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 1.5 APG, 1.5 SPG, 0.5 BPG, 1.8 3PTs)
Moses Moody is getting a bit more run and opportunity for the Golden State Warriors this season, and he has been rewarding them with some of the best play of his young career. He’s gone for double-digit points in three of his four games this season and is posting career highs across the board. Still only 21 years old, Moody could be worth keeping if he continues to be given chances to show his stuff.
Alex Caruso – Chicago – PG/SG – 26% Rostered
(7.3 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 3.0 APG, 2.0 SPG, 0.8 BPG, 1.0 PTs)
Health is always the concern with Alex Caruso, but so far, so good for him this season, knock on wood. Steals, assists, and decent rebounding numbers for his position are what you can expect to have Caruso on your roster. Not a heck of a lot of scoring, but scoring is a pretty cheap commodity in fantasy basketball.
