The Quick Pick: Daily NHL Underdog Fantasy Pick ’em Picks for October 27
Jack Eichel Higher Than 0.5 Assists
As a lifelong-suffering Buffalo Sabres fan, it pains me to even type out Jack Eichel’s name. However, the purpose of this article is not for the airing of my grievances but rather to pick winners.
On Friday night, Eichel and the VGK welcome Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks to town. The Blackhawks ride a three-game losing streak into this matchup, while Eichel and the VGK look to remain undefeated. The VGK center has feasted on bottom-feeders this season with assists against teams like the Flyers, the Ducks, and the Sharks. With five assists to his name in 2023, I volunteer Jack Eichel as tribute to go Higher Than 0.5 Assists tonight.
Rasmus Dahlin Higher Than 0.5 Assists
We now shift our focus from the former Sabre star above to the current Sabre star here in Rasmus Dahlin. The defenseman’s name and usage probably look familiar to our readers, but it does not come without reason and rationale. He has registered an apple in six of his last six games, for a total of seven on the season.
Dahlin also has four assists across six meetings with the Devils in the last two seasons. The Sabres will need to once again rely heavily on their top defenseman in Friday night’s game. Our second NHL Underdog entry is more reliable than Swedish-made furniture. Take Higher Than 0.5 Assists for Rasmus Dahlin.
Timo Meier Higher Than 0.5 Goals (1.5X Odds)
The last time I utilized Timo Meier as an Underdog entry, I wrote, “There are indications of an incoming heater.” Fast forward to Friday night, and he has one goal, four assists, and five points in his last three games. The odds for him to score here are up to 1.5X, but against the Buffalo Sabres, he will have his looks.
The Sabres have conceded at least three goals in five of their seven games this season. They have also allowed their opposition’s top liners to do the majority of the heavy lifting. So breathe in, close your eyes, and punch Higher Than 0.5 Goals for our old pal Timo Meier.
Drew Doughty Higher Than 0.5 Points
Last but not least, we’re taking the veteran Kings defenseman in a late-night matchup out in the desert. Doughty comes into Friday’s game against the Coyotes, having just registered an assist against them on Tuesday. While he has been fairly unproductive in 2023, Drew Doughty has a knack for tallying points against the lackluster Coyotes. He also leads Kings defenseman in time on ice and will certainly see time on the Power Play Friday night. Let’s round out Friday’s NHL Underdog entry with a winner and bang in Higher Than 0.5 Points on Drew Doughty.
