If an NHL goal fest gives you pleasure, then you really enjoyed night two of the young 2023 season. Sadly, our extra spicy Wednesday night Underdog Fantasy pick ‘em went up in flames. Tonight, we go again, keying in on four players with optimal spots to cash our ticket. Someone call Lil’ John because the theme in tonight’s entry will be shots, shots, shots. Here are my NHL Underdog Fantasy Picks for October 12!
The Quick Pick: Daily NHL Underdog Fantasy Pick ’em Picks for October 12
Tage Thompson Higher Than 4.5 Shots (1.75X Odds)
To say that Tage Thompson had an incredible 2022 season would be an understatement. He now needs to replicate last year’s performance to guide the NHL’s youngest team into the playoffs. The Sabres centerman will be on the top line, and his opportunities against the Rangers should be plenty. For that reason, I like Thompson to go Higher Than 4.5 shots. I will be in attendance for this matchup, so watching this Underdog pick ‘em hit live will be that much sweeter.
Johnny Gaudreau Higher Than 3.5 Shots (1.25X Odds)
The Columbus Blue Jackets were a bad hockey team in 2022, and they will continue to be a bad hockey team in 2023. We won’t even mention the Mike Babcock debacle. However, Johnny Hockey put together a respectable season, and he will no doubt do the same again this year. His first game of the year is at home, and he’s one of the few offensive threats on the team. Let’s go ahead and punch the Higher Than 3.5 Shots on Johnny Gaudreau.
Nico Hischier Higher Than 2.5 Shots
This talented young Swiss centerman is quite the weapon for the Devils offense. Nico regularly found his name on the box score in 2022, registering a whopping 256 shots. Although Detroit may have improved this offseason, the Devils look poised to have an exceptional season. On opening night, I trust the Devils captain to do his part in cashing our entry. Go ahead and lock in the Higher Than 2.5 Shots on Nico Hischier.
Jonathan Marchessault Higher Than 3.0 Shots
Based on Tuesday night’s performance, the VGK look like they’ve picked up right where they left off last season. So when you need a sure-fire Underdog pick ‘em to anchor your entry, trust Conn Smythe winner Jonathan Marchessault. Last season, he peppered the inferior Sharks with shots. He also tallied three shots on goal in their 2023 opener against the Kraken. Barkeep, we’ll have another and ride with Jonathan Marchessault Higher Than 3.0 Shots.
