Underdog Fantasy Daily Pick’Em Entry – October 7
Corbin Carroll – Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
Carroll started off the 2023 playoff campaign on a really hot note. In the two games with the Brewers, Carroll totaled 9 hits + runs + RBI – which included two of each in the first game. That shouldn’t slow down as he heads to Los Angeles, thanks to a great pitching matchup. Although Clayton Kershaw is a lefty, Carroll is 4-for-7 against him in his career, with two of those hits being dingers. With Carroll running hot, I have to imagine that keeps going here.
Spencer Strider – Higher than 8.0 Strikeouts
The Strider number comes in here a tad on the low side, partially because of his recent run. He failed to meet this mark in each of his last two games, which is a bit of a cause for concern. However, he’ll be squaring off with a familiar foe whom he keeps handling easily.
In four starts against the Phillies this year, Strider never came up short of nine strikeouts. That includes two different starts this month in which he nabbed 20 total strikeouts. It should help matters that four of the starters on the Phillies have struck out in at least half of their at-bats against Strider (JT Realmuto, Brandon Marsh, Kyle Schwarber, and Johan Rojas).
Martin Maldonado – Lower than 0.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
If we’re looking to play the lowest of the ‘lower than’s, look no further than Martin Maldonado. He ran a .191 batting average over the course of the regular season and ended more than one month hitting under .150. He’s had two hits in his last five games and now has gone nearly a week without seeing in-game pitching. I’ll ride on the shutout for him.
