Last year the Raiders were 6-11 and somehow were lucky to get to 6 wins. Josh McDaniels seems to be focused on bringing in his own guys despite the state of his team deteriorating, as he is 17-28 as a head coach. They did have an NFL record though as they had 5 losses in which they blew a touchdown plus lead at half time. McDaniels wasn’t all of the blame though, Derek Carr was pretty atrocious in the red zone. Luckily for Raiders fans, Carr is now a Saint and Jimmy G is notably successful around paydirt.

Tyree Wilson will be key to improving an abysmal defense outside of Maxx Crosby. Despite a number of picks and signings, the Raiders seemed to have not addressed their weak secondary and weak offensive line. In addition, a number of the players are restless and have been pushed out for McDaniels to bring in his guys. With so much turmoil its hard to expect success.
This year, they have the second hardest schedule based off of win totals, yikes. Their division is hard as it is, so picturing them in the playoffs is hard to fathom.

They start the year visiting the Broncos then traveling all the way to Buffalo the next week. Despite the bad outlook for the team, they do have 3 prime time games in the first 8 weeks. 0-8 is a real possibility even though they are playing 3 NFC North teams. They have to wait until week 13 to have a bye and then host the Vikings right after and are somehow favored.

After the big stunt Jakobi pulled when his Patriots played the Raiders last year where his errant lateral covered the spread and cashed the Patriots under in wins, its likely he might have had some skin on the game. His receivers coach Mike Lombardi just might have some action with him.
