Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Week 20: Teams to Stream

This week features three pretty good teams and one of the worst teams in the league playing the most optimal schedules. The Vegas Golden Knights play four times — all on the lighter nights — while the Arizona Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche, and Edmonton Oilers all play four times, including thrice on light nights.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Week 20: Forwards

Reilly Smith (VGK – W – 43% Rostered)

Smith plays on Vegas’ second line and top power-play unit. He has 39 points (19 G, 20 A) in 59 games this season, including seven points in eight February games.

J.T. Compher (COL – C, W – 34% Rostered)

Compher has flown under the radar as a solid contributor on the Avalanche’s second line. He has a career-high 40 points and 28 assists through 57 games this season. The second-line center has been on fire recently with eight points in his last four games.

Nick Schmaltz (ARI – C, W – 34% Rostered)

There aren’t many Coyotes players worth rostering but Schmaltz is one of them. He has 37 points (16 G, 21 A) in 42 games this season. Clayton Keller is Arizona’s star and Schmaltz plays with him at both 5-on-5 at on the power play.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Week 20: Defensemen

Shayne Gostisbehere (ARI – D – 36% Rostered)

Gostisbehere recently returned from injury and added a much-needed spark to the Coyotes’ blue line with Jacob Chychrun out. Gostisbehere could also be dealt at the deadline to man the power play for a contender, so there’s extra incentive to add him now with the trade deadline on Friday.

Samuel Girard (COL – D – 30% Rostered)

Girard has quietly been producing for the Avalanche with Cale Makar out — and even before that. He has 16 points in his last 21 games and will add a few hits and blocked shots there as well. The defenseman averages well over 20 minutes a game and will fill the box score for you.

Brayden McNabb (VGK – D – 27% Rostered)

McNabb isn’t going to be an Alex Pietrangelo or Shea Theodore for the Knights, but he’s a consistent contributor for banger leagues with multiple hits and blocks in five of his last six games — 22 hits and 19 blocks in total.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Week 20: Goalies

Connor Ingram (ARI – G – 24% Rostered)

The Coyotes actually have a decent goalie tandem (at times) with Karel Vejmelka and Ingram. Ingram is only 5-11-4 this season but he has a .912 SV% and only three “really bad starts” in his 19.
