2023 NHL All-Star Game: Picks & Best Bets
Central Division vs. Pacific Division
The All-Star Game kicks off with the two Western Conference divisions facing off.
Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl lead the Pacific in against the Central Division headlined by reigning Stanley Cup champions Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and Cale Makar. It should be a high-flying affair with two of the best in the game going head to head.
The All-Star Game isn’t necessarily a full-effort event for the skaters participating, but goalies are in the spotlight and always hate giving up goals. Given that, I’m giving an edge to the Central with Connor Hellebuyck and Jusse Saros against Stuart Skinner and Logan Thompson — two first-timers for the Pacific.
After a high-scoring series of All-Star games in 2020, last year’s games topped out at 13 goals with the Central defeating the Atlantic.
All-Star Game Picks: Central Division (-125) & Under 13.5 (-105)
Metropolitan Division vs. Atlantic Division
The Metropolitan Division is looking to defend its crown after Claude Giroux led the Flyers’ division to victory last season. Giroux is no longer on the Flyers, or at the All-Star Game, but Alex Ovechkin is there after missing a few due to “injuries.” They also have Sidney Crosby, Artemi Panarin, and Johnny Gaudreau.
The Atlantic is led by rivals David Pastrnak and Mitchell Marner, along with Nikita Kucherov and hometown favorites Aleksander Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk.
The interesting battle here is once again between the pipes. Both teams have solid goalie tandems with the Broviet Union of Igor Shesterkin and Ilya Sorokin for the Metropolitan against the Atlantic Division’s Andrei Vasilevskiy and Vezina-favorite Linus Ullmark.
This game is a toss-up, so I’m going with the underdog Metropolitan with Ovi and Crosby at what could be their last All-Star Game together. It should also be pretty low scoring with these brick walls in net.
All-Star Game Picks: Metropolitan Division (+105) & Under 11.5 (-105)
2023 NHL All-Star Game Champion &
This is an exhibition match yet the odds favor two divisions.
Atlantic Division: +230
Central Division: +270
Pacific Division: +330
Metropolitan Division: +330
Take a stab at one of the two underdogs, but given my picks above, I’m obviously going with the Metropolitan Division here at +330. The Central at +270 isn’t a bad look though — hell, there isn’t a bad look at an event like this.
Degen Special: Metro to beat Central (+650)
