Welcome back to the July update of the SGPN Fantasy Baseball Trade Value Chart!
Loads of action went down in June between injuries, call ups, breakouts, and more. But before we get to that . . .
Here is a quick breakdown of the chart. For a deeper explanation, check out the Trade Value Chart – June Update.
- This was designed for a 6×6 category league – AVG, R, HR, RBI, SB, OPS, ERA, WHIP, W, K, SV, IP.
- Stats were broken down to per-game averages with risk aside.
- Players received a grade for each category on a 1-10 scale.
- Grades were added up and averaged across four periods, 2018-2021, 2021, 2022, 2022 ROS Projections.
- Stats came from Frangraphs, hitting projections from ZiPS (RoS), and pitching from Steamer (RoS).
- Averaged out grades were assigned risk factors to calculate an accurate trade value chart.
One addition to this month’s update!
In the previous design, elite players were valued around 45-50. They earned grades of eight to ten in their six categories while poor players were valued around 10-15 with grades of one to three in their six categories. This time we chose to create a wider range that values the near-worthless players more appropriately in the single digits. To do so without disrupting calculations, the July trade value chart scaled every player. Values of 50 increased to 65 and they changed proportionately down to values of 15 decreasing to one.
Another note!
This trade value chart rates players on 1-to-1 basis. It’s pretty close to even offering JoRam and Rodon for Bichette and Burnes. Then you could even orchestrate a big win-win based on value added over positional replacements. But don’t expect to buy Burnes for two 33-pointers. It won’t be a win-win with the Burnes owner losing out. It is reasonable to up-charge the MVP in a 2-for-1. Lets get to it!
