Colby made the case for West Virginia first: their pass defense has been the problem all season, but the schedule has thrown them a parade of shaky quarterback play, and Iowa State’s own passing attack ranks near the bottom of the country. He called Iowa State’s defense well-coached but didn’t think its one real weakness could be exploited here, and liked the Mountaineers on the money line too.
Sean’s case for West Virginia pointed the same direction from a different angle: Iowa State just let a much better Utah team pile up points and yards at home, so he’s hoping for a shootout. He admitted he’s a little skeptical of the defense, but he took the 3.5.
Ryan was already on the fence, then found out Mack had picked Pitt on Friday. That settled it: he laid the 3.5 with Iowa State, figuring Mack gets a great night of content either way. Later he flagged the spot the other two missed, a look-ahead for West Virginia with Arizona coming to Morgantown next.
