Football Pick of the Day (September 16th): NFL Totals
Detroit Lions vs Buffalo Bills
Thursday, September 17th – 8:15pm EST – Prime Video
Thursday Night Football features a pair of teams with big firepower and who struggled on the defensive side of the ball in Week 1. The total posted reflects that. The books have posted a 53.5 line on this game, which is five points higher than any other game in Week 2. However, despite all the previous scoring, we’re looking to the under here and there are plenty of reasons why.
The first reason is that I believe the books are overreacting to Week 1 – espeically in a short week. They did the same with the Thursday night games last season and the under cashed in three of the first four weeks.
Another reason why I like the under is how successful the running game was for the Lions. I expect them to lean more on that against this tough Bills defense, hoping to slow the game down a bit. If they do that, it should help keep the scoring in check.
