One player that I don’t think is getting enough love on the books for the NFL’s opener is Jaxon Smith-Njigba. While he is undoubtedly the biggest offensive weapon on either side, there is still a lot of value on plenty of his lines. The reason for that likely has to do with his low stat totals in the Super Bowl against these very Patriots. However, those numbers are misleading for a couple of reasons. Firstly, he did have 10 targets – so while the numbers didn’t spike, the usage was there. Also, they led for large portions and leaned on their running backs.
Those running backs are another reason that I’m high on Smith-Njigba. Kenneth Walker left in free agency and Zach Charbonnet promptly tore his ACL. That leaves Rashid Shaheed and Jadarian Price as the other biggest touchdown threats other than him. With that being the case, you have to imagine even more targets for their number one.
Despite all the volume I’m expecting for him, you can still get his anytime touchdown number at +EV. You may not see that number there again this year and there’s no reason not to exploit it.
