Chicago Cubs vs Milwaukee Brewers

In the olden days, the three-game series between the Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers that kicks off tomorrow, the teams’ last meeting of the regular season, would be a crucial one. With the Brewers seven games in the lead over the second-place Cubs in the National League Central standings, it would have been critical for the visitors to sweep this series. But alas, with the extended playoffs, both teams will comfortably qualify for the postseason.

That’s because Milwaukee and Chicago are among the elite teams in the majors this season, with none more so than the Brewers. The top team in terms of wins-losses and advanced stats, the Brew Crew will try to make that translate into the playoffs for the first time.

In the meantime, I’ll take Milwaukee, their stellar home record (47-25) and Monday’s starter, Robert Glasser, who has been sharp lately, to fend off the Cubbies and start the series with a W. Milwaukee on the moneyline is my best bet for Monday.
