While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. MMA Regional Pick of the Week: Oktagon 89
Oktagon Middleweight Fight: Robert Pukac vs Brian Manning
Card Start Time: Saturday (6/6), 12:00pm EST (Internet PPV)
One thing you always have to love about Oktagon is their ability to make fights with outstanding stylistic matchups. This fight is a perfect example of it as they take a wily veteran and a relative newcomer, both of which like to throw down, and toss them in a main card fight.
You have to give the advantage to the newcomer Manning in this one. Pukac has the experience, and I think a lot of people are hanging their hat on that. However, that overlooks the long amateur career of Manning in which he worked out a lot of the kinks in his game. Additionally, Pukac has taken a lot of damage in those fights as well. He lives and dies by the sword on the feet, and has gotten himself into trouble that way in the past.
Additionally, I think people are sleeping on how good Manning can be on the ground. When we see the 6-0 record with six knockouts, we assume that he’s here to box. He did it in his promotional debut back in January. If you get a peek at the work he did in his amateur career though, you’ll see that he’s well-rounded with a nice double leg and some heavy ground and pound.
The youth, speed, and all-around game all point to Manning and we can get him here at a pick’em price.
