On Friday, the young guns from Milwaukee and Houston gave us an easy NRFI with a 1-2-3 inning in both parts of the first inning. They gave us an easy NRFI to cash. Now, we have some NRFI bets for May 30.
Saturday means day baseball, which gives us all kinds of action to comb through. Come check out what we have cooked up for this slate of games.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – May 30
Kansas City Royals vs. Texas Rangers
First Pitch – 4:05 pm EST
Globe Life Field – Arlington, TX
Broadcast – MLB TV
In the top of the first, we get Kumar Rocker back on the bump. After a rough start to the season, he’s really settled in as of late. Over his last three starts, he’s held two of his opponents scoreless and brought his ERA down under 4.00 for the season. In that span, he’s posted a 2.04 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 17.2 innings. A date with the Royals is likely to help that. They’re 29th in the league in runs scored this season. Their 3.77 per game only sits above the San Francisco Giants.
To close out the first NRFI for us, he have Seth Lugo dealing. Lugo may not be back to his Cy Young contender self, but he has been good enough. His 3.74 ERA will play, and he’s fanned 54 already this season. Texas is not only in the bottom third of first inning run scoring in the league, but they’ve struggled throughout the whole game. They rank 25th overall in run scoring and are one of just seven teams that hasn’t hit the 4.00 more this year.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for May 30: No (TBD)
Boston Red Sox vs. Cleveland Guardians
First Pitch – 4:10 pm EST
Progressive Field – Cleveland, OH
Broadcast – MLB TV
Speaking of teams that I love for their inability to score early – the Boston Red Sox are an NRFI gold mine. They rank 29th in first inning scoring and are just a touch better over the full game – 28th overall. I’d take them to get shutout in the first inning if they were facing a pitching machine. However, they have a much tougher task than that. Serious Cy Young candidate Parker Messick is on the bump. He carries a 2.24 ERA into action on Saturday and he’s 15th in the majors with 70 strikeouts.
To close out the NRFI, we’ll put our faith in Sonny Gray. The righty stalwart has held opponents to one run or fewer in four of his last five starts. Not only that, but he has solid history against the Guardians. He’s thrown 115.2 innings in his career against them, and struck out 111 with a 3.20 ERA. Cleveland has been a below average team in almost every major metric. That should mean that we get a quick first inning here and an easy cash.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for May 30: No (TBD)
