I realized recently that I hadn’t been paying enough attention to the Buffalo Sabres this season when I saw an analytics site had them listed as the fifth-most likely team to win the Stanley Cup this year. How did that happen?!
Apparently, when I wasn’t looking, the Sabres became an elite team this season. With 100 points already this year, Buffalo has obliterated the 85.5 point over/under they entered the season with. Ranking seventh in the league in goals for and 11th in goals against, fourth best on home ice, and ninth best away, the Sabres are a solid all-around squad.
One thing that didn’t escape my attention this year is that the New York Rangers are horrible at home, second-worst in the league with a 14-19-7 record. You’ve got to love the Sabres on the moneyline tomorrow night at MSG.
