While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. MMA Regional Pick of the Week: LFA 224
LFA Welterweight Fight: Bekmyrza Dosmatov vs Josiah Harrell
Card Start Time: Friday (1/16), 7:30pm EST (VICE TV)
LFA hits us with their first offering of the year from one of their favorite spots on the map, Prior Lake, Minnesota. While the top of the card features a belt on the line, it’s the co-main event that provides us with some of the best value on the market.
Former UFC-signee, Josiah Harrell takes his next step back towards the organization when he welcomes Bekmyrza Dosmatov to the cage. Harrell has always been a tenacious wrestler who can grapple with the best of them on the regional scene. He’ll have his hands full with a fighter who also likes to grind out wins with his wrestling.
The big difference maker in this fight should be what happens when they are standing. While both are likely to engage in some grappling, I can’t imagine either seeing much in the way of prolonged success. On the feet, Harrell should have a big advantage. He has a more diverse set of strikes and uses kicks to the body to wear down his opponent. Dosmatov, on the other hand, mostly uses striking as a means to an end – with that end being a takedown.
As long as he scores a bit while standing, Harrell should be able to win a couple of rounds and cash for us here.
