NFL Survivor Picks Week 17

NFL Survivor Picks Week 17

Last week we went to 3-0 again. Technically, we went 4-0. Our two locks hit, and so did the dog as the Panthers upset the Bucs. However, I also threw out the Steelers upsetting the Lions. We’ve had a winner every week and are looking to keep the action going as we advance in our leagues. Let’s take a look at the Week 17 NFL Survivor picks! You’re so close to the end. Keep picking your winners and cash in!

As a reminder, I’m giving out two locks each week, in case you’ve already used the first one. I’m also giving out a contrarian dog play that I think will hit to try and give you an advantage over your league mates! Since your options are probably very thin at this point, I’ll try to throw in a pick that you likely haven’t used!

The Lock: Dallas Cowboys

The easiest pick for your NFL Survivor picks in Week 17 is the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys haven’t been the shining example of consistency this year. In a way, that’s a good thing because you likely haven’t used them in your selections yet.

The Cowboys have the benefit of playing the Washington Commanders. It’s been a rough year for the Commanders due to injuries. Marcus Mariota has done okay as a backup. However, he is on the backside of his career. While he’s performing adequately, the Cowboys’ offense moves efficiently and will be hard to outpace.

Neither of these teams’ defenses has been great. However, the Cowboys’ defensive unit has done a better job. They’ll be able to slow the run and force Mariota to beat them in the passing game. I don’t think he can, therefore, the Cowboys feel like an easy pick.

Another Confident Pick: Broncos/Patriots

The other lock for your NFL survivor picks in Week 17 is the Patriots or the Broncos. I’m giving them both just on the off chance you have one of them available. With how well they’ve performed, I’d understand if you don’t. However, both of these teams have a game that should be easy, and both are gunning for the number one seed.

The Broncos face the Chiefs on Christmas Day. What should have been an epic showdown is now almost a “gimme game” for the Broncos. Perhaps that sets the trap, but I doubt it with Sean Payton as their coach. The Chiefs will likely be rolling out Chris Oladokun again. Against a very good Denver defense, I don’t think Coach Reid can gameplan enough with Oladokun to pull off a surprise win.

It’s a similar situation for the Patriots, where they face off on an easy matchup. They’ll face the Jets, who used to be an annoying little brother to them. However, with Brady Cook named the starter once again, I don’t think they’ll have enough firepower to be annoying. The defense leaves a lot to be desired as well. They just lost 26-9 to the Saints. If the Saints can beat them up like that, the Patriots definitely can.

An Underdog Pick: New York Giants

Finally, let’s take a look at an underdog pick that maybe nobody else is looking at. The team I’m circling on the NFL Survivor picks in Week 17 to pull off the upset is the New York Giants. The good news is, you’ve likely not used them at all this year in your Survivor pool. The bad news is that none of their games are guaranteed.

That includes this week against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders played hard last week against the Texans. However, I have a feeling the effort may have exhausted them. To play so well and still come away with a loss can be demoralizing.

The Giants can move the ball with Jaxson Dart, Tyrone Tracy, and Wandale Robinson. The defense can make plays as well. Geno Smith tends to turn the ball over, and the Giants will look to rely on that. Even though the game is in Las Vegas, I still think the Giants come away with a win in this one. If the Raiders were dogs, I’d be more inclined to take them. However, how can I back this team to win as a favorite? I can’t. Giants get the win.
